What is the commitment to volunteer as a tutor?
As a volunteer, plan to dedicate one to two hours weekly to your Israeli student for a minimum of 10 weeks.
Since tutors and students find the English B’Yachad experience to be enriching and enjoyable, many pairs choose to work together longer. While encouraged, this is not required.
How do I become an English B'Yachad volunteer?
Complete the Volunteer Interest Form.
1. Apply to volunteer.
2. Interview with our program staff.
We would like to get to know one another, share program details with you, and answer your questions.
3. Make the time commitment.
Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes per week. Preparation time ranges as well. Most volunteers spend a total of two hours per week or less.
Plan to meet with your student online for a minimum of 10 tutoring sessions.
4. Participate in an online orientation session.
Join us on Zoom to become familiar with our numerous resources. We’ll share how to get started with your student, including arranging meetings and conducting sessions.
5. Schedule with your student.
Since students are usually available in the evening in Israel, North American volunteers typically schedule sessions in the morning or early afternoon to accommodate for the time zone difference.
