Create new possibilities for young Israeli adults.

Are you a Jewish professional retiree looking for a fulfilling volunteer opportunity? Make a meaningful contribution to Israel by tutoring young adults.

The English B’Yachad program empowers young adults from Israel’s less-advantaged communities to achieve their dreams of socioeconomic success through improved English.

Why is English fluency so important?

“Without English speaking and writing skills, Israelis are limited to jobs with little opportunity for economic upward mobility.”

When I started tutoring Melishu, her speech was peppered with “Eh…” and her ability to form ideas into words was limited. Now, she conducts international meetings in English at a software company in Tel Aviv where she works in Human Resources.

What do English B'Yachad tutors do?

As weekly conversation partners, English B'Yachad tutors play a crucial role as English language mentors. While our students speak some English, they are eager to gain the fluency and confidence needed for professional success.

Hebrew or teaching experience is not required—just the desire to make a difference. If you need ideas—for example, with idioms or writing—our supportive tutor community has your back. We have extensive online resources in our Tutor Hub. Our tutors tell us they generally spend less than two delightful hours a week with their students.

While your time commitment is modest, your impact is significant.

Make a difference in others’ lives... and yours too.

English B’Yachad has a transformational impact on our students. That impact is not limited to English. It builds the professional confidence of the students and helps them believe there’s no limit to what they can achieve.
